Tips and Tricks for Using a Long Range Ore Detector in Space Engineers

Space Engineers Long Range Ore Detector: A Must-Have Tool for Space Engineers

If you are a fan of Space Engineers, you know how important it is to find and mine ore in the vast and hostile space. Ore is the essential resource that you need to build and maintain your ships, stations, and vehicles. However, finding ore can be challenging and time-consuming, especially if you are exploring new planets or asteroids. That's why you need a long range ore detector.

A long range ore detector is a device that can scan and detect ore deposits from a long distance. It can help you locate ore faster and easier, saving you time and resources. In this article, we will show you how to use a long range ore detector in Space Engineers, and give you some tips and tricks on how to make the most of it.

What is a long range ore detector and how does it work?

A long range ore detector is a block that can be attached to your ships, stations, or vehicles. It has a spherical antenna that emits radio waves that bounce off the surface of planets or asteroids. The radio waves can penetrate up to 150 meters deep into the surface, depending on the density of the material. The radio waves can also detect the type and amount of ore in the deposits.

The long range ore detector has a user interface that shows you the direction and distance of the detected ore deposits. You can also see the name and icon of the ore type, such as iron, gold, uranium, etc. The user interface also shows you the signal strength of the radio waves, which indicates how deep the ore is buried.

The long range ore detector has two modes: passive and active. In passive mode, the device scans automatically every few seconds and shows you the results on the user interface. In active mode, you can manually trigger the scan by pressing a button or using a timer block. Active mode consumes more power than passive mode, but it gives you more control over when and where to scan.

How to use a long range ore detector in Space Engineers?

To use a long range ore detector in Space Engineers, you need to follow these steps:

  • Build a long range ore detector block on your ship, station, or vehicle. You can find it in the production tab of your inventory. You need 10 steel plates, 20 computers, 10 motors, 10 large steel tubes, and 20 construction components to build it.

  • Connect the long range ore detector block to a power source, such as a reactor or a battery. You can use conveyors or connectors to link them.

  • Access the control panel of your ship, station, or vehicle. You can do this by pressing K on your keyboard or by using a cockpit or a remote control block.

  • Select the long range ore detector block from the list of blocks. You can rename it if you want.

  • Adjust the settings of the long range ore detector block according to your preferences. You can change the broadcast radius, which determines how far the device can scan. The maximum radius is 50 kilometers. You can also change the mode from passive to active or vice versa.

  • Start scanning for ore by either waiting for the passive mode to scan automatically or by triggering the active mode manually. You can see the results on the user interface of the long range ore detector block.
